Structured Decentralized Policy :
BAC International is a structured decentralized academic administration policy is put in place at BAC International and is functioning well. The School is at the centre of academic administration and each of the programmes is managed by an Academic Committee is established at each School with Head of School as its Chair. S/he is assisted by Programme Head and School Coordinator. All teaching faculty members are involved in the Committee. The primary responsibility of the committees is to allocate unit responsibility among the faculty members and to maintain oversight of the quality of student learning opportunities. The members of the committee also contribute to the management of the programme(s) by undertaking the responsibility of regular advisory to assigned group of students and ensuring the implementation of Senior Management Committee policies and procedures, promote the development and enhancement of programmes, and provide for their monitoring and evaluation. School Academic committees are accountable to Senior Management Committee. This is mirrored at UoD by the School Quality Committee.
System Of Verification :
BAC International academic management is founded on a rigorous system of verification at different levels to ensure the achievement of understanding, knowledge and skills for the desired qualification. The system at BAC requires all outcome achievements are supported by performance evidence that are valid, authentic and satisfactory in relation with assessment criteria. At the ground level in BAC, the faculty is responsible for administration and delivery of the Unit curriculum under the general supervision of the Head of School. The faculty shall be assigned a Unit for academic administration and delivery in accordance with respective faculty specialization. The Unit assignment shall generally be done in a properly convened School meeting chaired by Head of School and participated by all faculty members. In special circumstances or in case of casual vacancy, the Head of the School hall assign a Unit to faculty.
Outline Based Curriculum :
While administering the Unit curriculum, each faculty shall prepare a detail outline based on the curriculum. The outline shall describe the topics to be covered, the methods of deliberations, the tools to be used for assessment of individual outcome and systems of assessment and a schedule of each of the activities pertaining to Unit delivery. Each student shall be provided with this outline. The outline shall be discussed in one of the School meetings before the commencement of the semester. The Head of the School, Heads of Programmes and the School Coordinator shall undertake the oversight and make sure that the Unit outcomes are appropriately approached and necessary learning materials are used to cover the Unit subject matter.
The Internal Verifier shall convene a meeting once in every month to review the assignment brief deposited for review within the intervening period. The Head of School and respective faculty members shall participate in the review and verification process. The Internal Verifier shall provide quality assurance in terms of compliance with the requirements of outcomes and their variables. The Internal verifier shall once again, receive the assignment submitted by the students after they are assessed by the faculty (assessor) and give his/her final endorsement on the grades towards achievement of the outcomes. The Internal Verifier shall exercise his/her full wisdom in deciding whether the work(s) submitted deserves the grade the assessor(s) proposed or not and in guiding the assessment in the best interest of quality assurance.
School Academic Committee :
School Academic Committee is vested with the following powers and responsibilities within the framework of the following Terms of Reference (TOR) which is in the process of evolution as time progresses.
Academic committees have the authority to exercise the following powers:
(i) Arrange for the unit offerings in each semester and allocate units to faculty members according to their area of specialty and interest;
(ii) Agree on the semester calendar, class schedule and student centered activity schedule for the semester;
(iii) Agree with arrangements for and oversee the monitoring and evaluation of their programmes, in accordance with the Edexcel procedures as adopted at BAC International;
(iv) Agree with extra-curricular activities schedule of BAC involving students and their learning opportunities.
Qualification Award Verification Committee :
BAC International follows a detailed process for ensuring authenticity and standard of Edexcel awards through its in-house ‘Qualification Award Verification Committee’ (QAVC). Higher National Diploma (HND)/Higher National Certificate (HNC) are issued by Edexcel, UK in response to the Centre’s claim for such awards. BAC, as one of the Edexcel centre(s), is responsible for claiming the award for individual students from Edexcel after being satisfied with the candidates’ fulfillment of all achievements. The certificate claiming process requires institutional integrity and due diligence of its senior management. The QAVC shall be responsible for critical review of all documents related to HND/ND award and conduct necessary verification to ensure the authenticity of the achievements of all outcomes in fulfillment of the requirements of a BTEC certificate. BAC ‘QAVC’ shall be constituted as follows:
